Do you work in a shop and wear a uniform? You might be owed £60!

Did you know that if you pay UK income tax and are obligated to wear a uniform while at work, you are entitled to tax relief?

If your employer doesn’t give you any dedicated financial support for cleaning your non-optional uniform, and you’re putting it through your own washing machine at home, you can increase your tax-free personal allowance.

Depending on your job, and your tax bracket, the actual amount you’ll receive will vary, but for a shop worker paying 20% tax, there’s a fixed rate that works out to £12 a year.

Even better, if you’re not already doing this, you’re able to back date it for four years, meaning you could get £60 in one go. That’s like two weeks of meal deals, or a week’s car parking in some places.

Obviously we’re not financial experts but visit the website below and see if you or someone you know is eligible:

Be aware that there are firms offering to do this for you for a fee, so make sure you go through the proper UK government portal which is totally free.
